Let’s face it, we all have seen some of the 80’s and 90’s fashion trends coming back. Many times, those items in your mother’s closet that she’s hung on to for all these years may be appropriate to wear out in public again. Luckily, the items on this page are staples to have in your closet no matter what decade you are in. They are able to be dressed up or down and used in so many different outfits. Here are some great fashion basics you need in your wardrobe!
Jean Jacket-
A jean jacket is a timeless piece to keep in your closet. It can be worn so many different ways. You can dress it up or down. In the summer it can be worn with dresses or skirts, in the fall with oversized sweaters and in the winter layered with hoodies. These three jackets from The Pink Lily Boutique are affordable and great quality. A basic plain jacket can never go wrong, but if you are feeling fun they have some cute options with studs or dyed jackets that make a great statement piece. Click on the images below to shop!
Bodysuits-
Although bodysuits have been more of a recent trend, this is an essential piece to keep in your wardrobe. Have you ever worn a shirt that needed to be tucked in and just kept coming undone? Bodysuits are great at staying in place all day and can be worn under jeans, skirts, dress pants or even shorts.
Converse-
Converse are one of my favorite pairs of shoes. They can be worn with anything; dresses, jeans, skirts, and can be worn dressed up or down. I love pairing them with a floral dress in Spring with a jean jacket. They don’t go out of style and continue to be trendy as they have for decades.
Hats-
Adding a hat to an outfit can completely change the look. They are so universal and can be worn in any season. I love wearing a fedora with dresses in the spring and summer and one with sweaters in the fall. A baseball hat is nice to have during any season when you want your look to instantly become more sporty-chic. Click through the images below to see some of my favorites!
Little Black Dress-
Even if you don’t go to out often, having a little black dress is a great staple into your wardrobe. I can’t tell you how many times I have thought I didn’t need one until I had nothing to wear. A little black dress can be worn for so many different type of occasions; happy hour, dates, work events, funerals, etc. Don’t let the name fool you, it doesn’t have to be little or short- if you prefer a longer dress for these type of occasions, get one!
Blazer-
A blazer is a great option for so many different occasions. Not only can they be worn to work, but they look great with jeans, dresses, and skirts. It’s one piece that can completely transform your outfit from basic to sophisticated.
Heels-
I’ll admit, i’m not the most coordinated person, so heels aren’t always in my favor. I do think it’s great to have at least one pair in your closet though. They are great to wear to work, business meetings, weddings, work events, and so many other occasions. I have found the shorter the heel, the easier they are to walk in. If you are wanting something neutral, black is the best option to go with, although I have found some really cute pink ones as well.
Leather Jacket-
I recently parted ways with my ten year old faux leather jacket that I got over a decade in High School and i’m still pretty upset about it. I love wearing a leather (or faux) jacket with jeans, skirts, or dresses. It gives your look a more edgy appearance and love how fun it can make your outfit.
All of these items are great fashion basics to have in your wardrobe. Be sure to follow my socials to stay updated on the latest trends!
